Ice Berries

A white, blue, and green-leaved piece with red berries on a purple background, a messy ray of blue white ice.

This digital art piece is a representation of the delicate balance between the forces of nature. Theice berries in the piece are a metaphor for how the cold can both harm and protect us. The blue and white colors represent the duality of the piece, representing the cold as the red and green represents the purity of the berries.

The digital painting has a dreamlike quality, as if the viewer is looking at a scene through a frosty window. The use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth and dimension, while the soft, blurred edges give the painting a ethereal quality. It is as if the berries are frozen in time as well as space.

This piece just seemed too juvenile for me. Too uninspired. I could never get past the shape of the berries. It’s so literal. “Oh, why is this piece called ‘Ice Berries’ you ask? Well because it’s light blue and there are some berries.” I mean, where do you go with that? Where does that leave you? Yep, there are the berries. There’s not much room for interpretation and yet why then bother with the abstraction?

I didn’t love how the composition on this one turned out either, and overall I just looked at it with a resounding “meh.” So here it is.
